Q. How do I get involved in Religious Life at AU?
A. The best way to get involved is to regularly attend one of our three weekly fellowship/worship gatherings. You can choose from Newman Catholic Fellowship (Mondays @ 6:30 pm), Fellowship of Christian Athletes (Tuesdays @ 9 pm), and The Well (a contemporary worship service that meets on Thursdays @ 8 pm). From there you can choose to get involved in any of the other activities we offer-- such as small groups, retreats, and mission trips.

Q. What opportunities are there to worship on campus?
A. We have numerous worship opportunities at AU. For instance, the following worship events happen at the AU chapel every week:
*Five Stones Community Church (Sundays @ 10:30 am)
*Catholic Mass (Sundays @ 9:30 pm)
*Newman Nights (Mondays @ 6:30 pm)
*Fellowship of Christian Athletes(Tuesdays @ 9:00 pm)
*The Well (Thursdays @ 8:00 pm)

In addition to these weekly events, we occasionally offer special worship opportunities through other ministries such as Alabaster, Sparks, and Hope.

Q. Is there a quiet place to pray in the Chapel?
A. Yes, we have a designated "Prayer Room" located near the back Chapel door. The room is a nice and comfortable place for quieting your heart before the Lord.

Q. What activities does Religious Life have to offer?
A. At the Center for Religious Life we are committed worship, scripture study, prayer, discipleship, service, and community and have created unique ministries to cover ach of these facets of the Christian life. Since each ministry has something different to offer, it might be helpful to briefly list the types of activities they typically organize.

ALABASTER coordinates worship opportunities on campus. In particular, it offers Alabaster Night the last Monday of every month. This is an event where participants are encouraged to worship the Lord through the Arts.

LOGOS offers Bible study resources and online devotions for students.

SPARKS organizes prayer events such as 24/7 prayer vigils and prayer meetings before our worship services.

GROW facilitates small groups on campus and seeks connect students with mentors to help guide them on the journey toward Christ-likeness.

ISAIAH PROJECT organizes service and outreach trips to places as near as the quad and as far as the other side of the globe.

HOPE offers student retreats and connection events that help to develop a sense of community within Religious Life.

ADVENTURE CLUB organizes trips for those who love the outdoors or have a taste for living on the wild side. Such trips have included backpacking excisions, whitewater rafting, camping, and even skydiving.

Q. What is Isaiah Project?
A. Isaiah Project is an organization within Religious Life that plans service and outreach opportunities. Since we believe that Christians are to make a difference throughout the globe, Isaiah Project equips students to impact the local community, the state, the nation, and the world. As such, a student involved with Isaiah Project might pass out hot chocolate on the quad or build a house in South Africa-- wherever Christ's love can be shown.

Q. What is the worship atmosphere at Religious Life?
A. The most important thing about the worship atmosphere at our events is that we are trying to worship the Lord in spirit and in truth. Come as you are and offer God praise. Don't worry about what you wear or how chipper you are. We encourage worship done with raised hands or bended knees--with smiles or with tears. Whether you feel like shouting with joy at the Lord's greatness or sitting silently in the wake of His mystery, you are welcome. Please join us.

Q. Are there opportunities to participate in the worship band?
A. Yes, if you have any musical talent that you would like to share, please contact Aaron Wardle.

Q. Whom can I contact for more information?
A. Contact Colleen at the Religious Life office at (419)289-5489 or email chord@ashland.edu

Q. What is the Call?
A. The Call is about hearing and responding to God’s desire to raise up leaders in the Church. Discerning His call is the foundational purpose of this program. For those students who feel God is moving them in the direction of church leadership (as pastor, youth minister, Christian education director, worship leader, etc.), the Call is the perfect opportunity to explore that call and to prepare for seminary and ministry.
