ONLINE REGISTRATION INSTRUCTIONS

Students currently enrolled may register online for the upcoming Quarter. Please meet with your academic advisor (or extension site director) to discuss your course selections.

  • You will only be able to register during the times listed above, according to your degree program and number of hours completed at Ashland Theological Seminary. The system will block your registration attempt until your predetermined time.
  • You need to know your email username (for instructions, go to tech.ashland.edu) and the last six digits of your social security number to log into WebAdvisor for the first time. Once you have logged in, you will be required to change your password. If you have previously logged into WebAdvisor, please use the same password.
  • The WebAdvisor system is programmed to refuse registrations for students with balances due. Make sure your account has no balance due before you attempt to register online. You can check your account balance in WebAdvisor.
  • Make sure that you choose the correct term when searching for classes in WebAdvisor.
  • You will need to know the subject code (such as OT, NT, CT), the course number (511, 601, etc.), the section (A, B, C) and the campus location (Ashland, Cleveland, etc).
  • Be sure to cross-reference the academic schedule listed on the ATS website for exact dates/times of the classes, particularly for those meeting in the summer.
  • WebAdvisor blocks registration for courses if the prerequisites are not met. Even if you plan to complete a prerequisite for a course in the summer, the system will not let you register for a fall class that has that prerequisite. You will have to register for that course by going to the Registrar’s office.
  • Please refer to the appropriate catalog for institutional requirements for all degree programs. You should make sure to register for classes that satisfy your degree program requirements.
  • You will still have to submit the paperwork for Directed/Independent Studies and Theses before these courses may be added to your schedule.
  • WebAdvisor will not let you register for undergraduate-level courses if you are in a graduate program and vice versa.
  • Please be sure that you do not accidentally register for a course that meets in another location. Since we share the online registration with AU, you need to make sure your select the correct location code when necessary. These include: Ashland Seminary, Cleveland SEMINARY/NURSING, Columbus MBA & SEMINARY, Detroit Seminary, Detroit-Counseling Seminary, Emerge Seminary, and Midwest Center SEMINARY. Courses that are offered at off-campus sites will be displayed in the options.
  • For express registration purposes section codes are required. If you have A,B, or C use that code.
  • An email confirmation of your registration will be sent to your Ashland email address. Access this link for information about accessing your Ashland email – http://tech.ashland.edu/training/faq/GroupWise/gwclient.html.

The WebAdvisor site may also be used to see up-to-date information about your current schedule, transcript record, program evaluation (although some programs may not be entered), and account balance. That service is not connected to the registration option, so it is available to you any time of day throughout the year and does not require special permission.

.

Quick hints:

  • After making a selection on a screen, scroll to the bottom of the screen and click the "Submit" button.
  • DO NOT USE the "Back" browser button - click "Menu" at the top.
  • Make sure to "Log Out" when you are finished.
  • Check out the "FAQ" link (Frequently Asked Questions) if you run into trouble

"Register for sections" If you click on this link you will have a choice to register with:

"'Search and register for sections". Click here is you are not sure which course you want to register for. The only required field is "Term" however it will be faster if you narrow your search by specific areas. You can fill in any number of fields and only the classes that meet ALL criteria will appear.

"'Express registration" If you know exactly which courses you want to register for, fill out the subject (Dept. on schedule such as OT, NT, PM) course number (such as 511, 512, etc), section (if there is an A or B or CL, etc). You will then see "Preferred Sections" in the upper part of the screen and "Current Registrations" in the lower part of the screen. In the action column use the drop down menu to designate the appropriate action for each course. Once this has been completed for each course, click the submit button at the bottom of the screen. You will be provided with a receipt of all actions showing the registered courses and any courses that need further action. Registration will not be completed until all conflicts are resolved.

When finished, click on "My Schedule" to view your final course selection. Print a copy of your schedule.
