Foreign Language Placement

The Foreign Language Requirements for the B.A.
Students pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree must fulfill the foreign language requirement as defined by successful completion of Intermediate II or the equivalent of a single language. The number of credit hours needed (0-12) to complete the requirement depends on the student's entry level of study.

Students entering at Elementary I will need 12 hours to complete the requirement. Students entering at Elementary II will need 9 hours. Students entering at Intermediate I will need 6 hours. Students entering at Intermediate II will need 3 hours. Students receiving 12 hours of credit through Intermediate II via CLEP or AP credit have met the requirement and complete 0 hours of FL study at AU.
