Scheduling Process
1. Get a Registrar's Calendar (Registrars Office, 200 Founders Hall). It will tell you all important administrative dates. (i.e., last day to add/drop classes, beginning WP/WF grading dates, and registration days ...)
2. The Academic Affairs section of the Undergraduate Catalog shows the institutional baccalaureate degree requirements (CORE).
Save your catalog! It is your contract to graduate. Note: You may be following a different catalog then your friend, roommate, etc. Know your catalog year!!3. Make a 4-year plan for known major or possible major (if undecided start with institutional requirements and courses that will give you exposure to interested majors).
- A. Use the
Undergraduate Catalog.
- Review the list of approved CORE courses.
- Find your major in the catalog (listed alphabetically), Mark it!
- Determine if the degree is a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science, review the degree requirements.
- Determine if your major requires a minor, review minor requirements.
- Don't forget about PREREQUISITES! A prerequisite is a course(s) that you are required to take and pass before you can enroll in a certain course.
- Make sure you have at least 12 credit hours per semester, 12 credit hours is full time status.
- Curriculum Guides (confirm with department that guide is up-to-date).
- Rotation Guides identify what semester(s) a course is offered.
- Undergraduate Advising Assistants-
- 1. One Advising Assistant lives in each dorm.
- 2. Advising Assistants are available during and after university business hours.
- Graduate Assistants-Refer to the Academic Advising Website for Graduate Assistant office hours.
- Faculty Advisor-You should be working with a Faculty Advisor in your field once your major(s) are declared.
- Director of Academic Advising-You should work with the Director if you are undecided and/or are transitioning to a different major.
- A. The Course
Schedule Book provides the following information:
- Courses offered that particular semester.
- Days/Times that the course(s) are available.
- Who is teaching the course(s).
- Building/Room where course(s) is being taught.
- A. Use pencil
when drafting your schedule.
- During your course selection, identify alternative courses is case your preferred choice is closed. .
- Review your tentative schedule to make sure the courses you have chosen don't CONFLICT in time.
6. Make
an appointment to meet with your advisor at least one week before your
assigned registration date to avoid delays in registration.
A. You may have chosen your Faculty Advisor or one was assigned to you.
B. Your 4-year plan and/or some idea of the courses you want to take should be reviewed by your Faculty Advisor.
C. YOU MUST HAVE YOUR SCHEDULE SIGNED BY YOUR FACULTY ADVISOR.
D.Your Faculty Advisor will give you a card with a date/time of when to register, you will give this card the Registrar Representative at that time.
7.
Before you register, you must visit the Business Office (202 Founders Hall,
Student Accounts).
A. Visit the Business Office a day or two before your time to register to avoid delays in registration.8. Visit the Registrar's Office on the day/time assigned to you. This assignment is listed on your Time to Register card.
B. YOU MUST HAVE YOUR SCHEDULE STAMPED BY THE BUSINESS OFFICE. You CANNOT register if you have an outstanding balance.
