Global Service Corps (GSC) provides cross-cultural learning and community service adventures for adults in Costa Rica, Kenya and Thailand. Short-term (two to four weeks), long-term (two to six months), and student internship programs are available.

This site offers students and non-students a variety of university-accredited internship and volunteer work opportunities with an underserved community of indigenous people.

Center For Interim Programs

CIP matches clients' interests with a database of over 2,400 nonacademic but structured opportunities worldwide (from art to zoology, Australia to Zimbabwe), many of which provide room and board. The Center has placed some 3,000 people between the ages of 16 and 70 over the past 15 years. Placements are individual, so check with the organization for details and fees.

People to People International

PTPI offers 2 month overseas internships in addition to their two to five week short courses. Students can participate in an internship for six hours of graduate or undergraduate credit! Each intern is placed in a two month, full-time, unpaid work assignment consistent with his or her specific academic and/or work experience and goals. The internships are primarily an opportunity to gain first-hand exposure to the intern's career field.

BUNAC

It's easy enough to visit most of the globe as a tourist, but, and it's a big but, it's not always easy to work and spend extended time abroad so that you get to know another country in a way a tourist never does.
