CHALK FESTIVAL
2007 FESTIVAL SCHEDULE ARTIST ENTRY FORM CONTACT The concrete Academic Corridor at Ashland University will become the canvas of professional, amateur and beginner artists when we host the second annual ASHLAND SIDEWALK CHALK FESTIVAL on October 18, 2008, from 10:00am - 4:00pm. Ashland University would like to invite you to join in on this 16th-century Italian street painting tradition.
The corridor will be marked off into 34 rectangles, each approximately 14 feet by 28 feet, on which individuals, families, clubs, students and businesses may transform the walkway into colorful masterpieces using chalk. Featured chalk artists will be displaying their artistic talent. There will be musical entertainment and backyard grilling to add to the extravaganza.
Artist pastels chalk will be given to each participant. Other items, such as sponges for blending, may be helpful to bring along. Participants will also receive a complimentary meal ticket.
The style and design of the murals can be anything from classical to contemporary, whimsical and fantastic to socially relevant.
There will be three award categories including:
2008 Best of Festival
2008 People's Choice Award
Most Creative
Award winners will be announced that day.
