- Medical Emergencies (requires IMMEDIATE medical attention)
- Contact Safety Services for assistance-911
- Go to Samaritan Regional Health Systems Emergency Room
(at student's expense) located approximately 1/2 mile from
campus
- Non-Emergencies (sore throat, colds, etc.)
- Visit Student Health Center when open
- During summer months and breaks, call your physicians office for appointment, visit an urgent care center, etc. (at student's expense)
- Medical History and Physical Forms
- Completed form must be turned in to Student Health Center by first day of class
- Front of form completed by Student
- Signed by parent/guardian if student under 18 years of age
- Immunization history must be completed
- Back of form completed by Physician
- Confidentiality
- All information is confidential
- Students must sign Release of Information Form to release any information regarding diagnosis, treatment, etc.
- If medical emergency (hospitalization, life threatening condition, etc.), information may be released at the discretion of the Student Health Center medical personnel.
- Student Health Center Fee - Included with Tuition and Fees Bill
- $60 per semester
- Services included in fee:
- All Visits - Nurse, Nurse Practitioner, Physician
- All Medications dispensed from the Health Center
- Health Center stocks many over-the-counter medications, pain medications, and commonly prescribed antibiotics
- Prescriptions may be written for medications not stocked in the Health Center and can be filled at a local pharmacy at student's expense
- All lab testing completed in the student health center: strep, mono, pregnancy, urinalysis, ect.

- Supplies (excluding ace wraps) must be returned to the Student Health Center. If not returned, there will be a charge for the item to the student's account

- Instruction sheet from allergist

- First $2,000 paid prior to deductible for all accidents (on or off campus)

- Basic benefits of $300 for outpatient expenses when referred by AU Student Health Center
- 80% - 20% coverage after deductible
- Maximum payments up to $75,000

- Accident insurance pays first $2,000
- Cost above $2,000 - parents forward to personal insurance, if student is covered under plan
- Any remaining balance sent to Commercial Travelers Insurance Company with all explanation of benefits from prior insurance payments/denials

- Who are Nurse Practitioners?
- Nurse Practitioners (NPs) are registered Nurses (RNs) with highly developed skills and knowledge aquired from advanced education and training in a particular area of health care. NPs provide primary care and education to diverse populations of all age groups. They manage both acute and chronic illnesses in many settings and under many conditions. They encourage people to make informed decisions about their health care by offering specific information and recommendations, including the impact of lifestyle choices on health and disease processes.
- What services do Certified Nurse Practitioners provide?
- Nurse Practitioners serve as the primary health care provider
for children and adults during health and illness. In order
to provide complete health care, the Nurse Practitioner may:
- OBTAIN medical histories and perform physical examinations
- DIAGNOSE and treat acute health problems such as infections and injuries
- DIAGNOSE and manage chronic diseases such as diabetes and high blood pressure
- ORDER, perform, and interpret diagnositic studies such as lab work and x-rays
- PRESCRIBE medications and other treatments
- PROVIDE prenatal care and family planning services
- PROVIDE well-child care, including screening and immunizations
- PROVIDE health maintenance care for adults, including annual physical exams
- PROMOTE positive health behaviors and self-care skills through education and counseling
- RECOGNIZE complicated medical conditions that require referral
- COLLABORATE with physicians and other health professionals as needed
