I began my career at Ashland University in 1995 in the Athletic Department where I worked for four years, then I worked in the Student Life Office for seven years. I started working at the Rec Center in 2006, when the facility first opened. My main responsibilities within the department include selling memberships, maintaining and balancing the budgets and recording all of the students' time sheets. My interests include making greeting cards, playing racquetball, reading and walking. I also love to babysit my six granddaughters.

I began working at Ashland University in August 2013 as graduate supervisor of programs. My responsibilities include overseeing intramural sports, sport clubs, community programming, outdoor pursuits and group exercise. I received my Bachelors of Arts in business administration with a major in business management in May of 2010 from Notre Dame College. Currently I am working towards my Master of Business Administration at Ashland University. I enjoy all sports especially bowling, football, baseball and basketball. I also like movies and TV shows.
Janel Molnar, Director

I have been working at Ashland University since 2004; serving as the graduate assistant, assistant director of facilities and have been in the position as director of recreational services since May 2009. My job responsibilities include facility rentals, membership, facility operations and equipment maintenance. I graduated from Ashland University with a Bachelor of Science in recreation and a Master of Education in sport management. I reside in Medina and enjoy playing table tennis, running and spending time with my husband and daughter.

I started working for the department as an intramural official in 2006. I became an intramural supervisor in 2009 and the graduate assistant of programs in 2010. I have been in my current role as assistant director of programs since June 2013. My current responsibilities include administering the programming component for the Department of Recreational Services including intramural sports, sport clubs, group exercise, outdoor pursuits and community programming with sport leagues and youth summer camps. I graduated from Ashland University with a Bachelor of Science in education with a major in chemistry and with a Master of Education in sport management. I love sports, fitness and my dog!
Alexis Smith, Assistant Director, Aquatics and Student Development

I began working at Ashland University in 2010 as the graduate assistant of aquatics, then became assistant director of aquatics and wellness in June of 2010. In January of 2013, I had a title change and responsibility shift when I became the assistant director of aquatics and student development. My job responsibilities include supervising the day-to-day operations of the Messerly Natatorium, as well as the majority of the staff within the Rec Center. I oversee facility managers, aquatic managers, lifeguards, customer service supervisors, equipment check-out supervisors and fitness center supervisors. I completed my bachelor's degree in sport management in 2009 at Ashland University, and most recently finishied my master's degree in sport management in 2013. I enjoy spending time with my family, reading and training for half marathons.
