Throughout the year, Ashland University Student Dining Services offers the campus community a change of pace by providing theme specials. These specials vary throughout the year and include Picnics, Karaoke,Chocolate Lovers, Halloween, and Beach Party. Just to name a few. With these specials, Student Dining provides a specialty menu along with games and contests, offering prizes to students . Contributions are provided throughout the year from local businesses along with the purveyors who service the Dining Hall facility to help make the event a huge success. Here are just a few of the scheduled events. Watch for new ones in the days to come.
ALL CAMPUS PICNIC AUGUST 24, 2008
The opening picnic is held from 4:30-6:30 pm on the front lawn of Founders Hall. This annual campus event is instrumental in welcoming returning staff and students as well as new students on campus.
KARAOKE SPECIAL SEPTEMBER 10, 2008
This special includes a night with an Asian flair and an evening of fun and entertainment. Students compete in singing Karaoke with music provided by House of Entertainment, that initiates a night of competition among the participants during the dinner hours.
CLAM BAKE SEPTEMBER 24, 2008
An evening meal compiled of seafood favorites throughout the Dining Hall.

BANANA SPLITTEN PICNIC 2008
This annual co-sponsored event held by Student Dining and Student Activities is held on the front lawn of Founders. Students participate in making a 320-foot long Banana Split along College Avenue. The students as well as the Ashland community is invited to join in on the fun and picnic, along with the traditional announcement of the Homecoming Court.

HALLOWEEN OCTOBER 30, 2008
The annual Halloween Special always wins students over as staff joins in to help celebrate in a variety of costumes. The Dining Hall is transformed while offering traditional treats. Halloween candy is passed out throughout the dinner period to make the evening complete. Students have an opportunity to participate in a pumpkin carving contest.
INTERNATIONAL CUISINE NOVEMBER 16, 2008
Around the world cuisine will be served in Upper Convo on Sunday evening 4:00-6:30.
Students will participate to help give us insight on different menus and customs around the world.
HARVEST NIGHT THANKSGIVING SPECIAL NOVEMBER 24, 2008
This evening meal is comprised of traditional Thanksgiving favorites, along with an elaborate selection of holiday pies, created by the employees giving that extra special homemade touch. Some pies that are traditionally created are Deep Dish Apple, Grasshopper, Peanut Butter, Peppermint, Kentucky Derby, Pecan, Chocolate Chiffon, Apple Caramel, Banana Cream and Pumpkin. To add a special twist to the evening the President of the University along his wife has taken part in personally serving the pies to the students.

ROCK, RHYTHM & BLUES FOOD SHOW JANUARY 29, 2009
The Dining Hall closes at 2:00, making last minute preparations in Upper Convo for the annual Food Show. Students will experience a variety of foods and live music, complimenting this years theme from 4:15-7:00.
All are encouraged to vote on their favorite selections in order to incorporate them into the Menu, while automatically being entered in the drawing for prizes throughout the evening.
CHOCOLATE LOVERS FEBRUARY
11, 2009
This annual event celebrates Valentine's Day in "sweet"
style, as red, pink and chocolate creates a heart felt presentation
throughout the Dining Hall. A drawing makes the evening interesting
as recipients, enter in a drawing for several five pound Hershey Bars.

EASTER SPECIAL APRIL 8, 2009
The Easter Bunny makes an appearance from 4:15-7:00 in the Dining Hall making sure everyone gets an Easter Treat. Students test their luck by reaching into a drum filled with hundreds of colorful plastic eggs, all hoping to pick one of the many lucky eggs, to take home one of ten Gourmet Easter Baskets.
