Academic Success Center

The Academic Success Center will coordinate academic student support services for all undergraduate students in all academic areas. Peer tutoring services will be developed to meet the needs of learners.
Information on high quality existing support programs will be communicated so that students can take advantage as needed or desired.
Professional Academic Advisors from each college at Ashland have regularly scheduled time every week in the Success Center for ease of accessibility.

The office of Student Success and Retention coordinates the University's retention strategies through partnerships with faculty, Academic Support Services, parents, Financial Aid, Admission, Student Life and, most importantly, the students. The office strives to administer proactive strategies to make the transition to college life easier and initiates early interventions to ensure student success. The emphasis is on the student's social, personal and academic adjustments to college.

At Ashland University, we are committed to giving every student the support and services they need to pursue their college education and take advantage of all available opportunities. No qualified student with a documented disability shall be denied access to or participation in the services, programs and activities of the college.
Students who have documentation from a medical doctor, psychologist, or psychiatrist for specific learning and/or physical or health handicaps may receive services through Disability Services, which is operated by the Classroom Support Services office. Students who use services through this office are more successful if they know how their disability impacts classroom performance. Their goal is to facilitate students to become self advocates within the academic environment.
During the first week of the semester, contact a Learning Specialist with your documentation to arrange reasonable accommodations such as

Accommodations must not fundamentally alter the course or the academic degree being sought.
Peer Tutoring
Free Peer Tutoring is available to any undergraduate student. Individual tutors are available for most academic areas and group tutors are available for Math and the Sciences. Students arrange their own times with tutors for individual tutoring sessions.
Career Development Center
Facilitates career exploration for undecided students and for those individuals who would like to explore other majors. Our online interactive career and education tool combines self-assessment, career exploration and decision making to help you find the best career path.

Residence Directors/Assistants
Each residence hall has a residence director (RD) and residence assistants (RA) who are available to assist students with a variety of academic questions. RDs are typically located on the ground floor of the building and RAs reside on each residential floor.
Writing Center
If you need consultation for papers in any class, you can contact the Writing Center. Writing Assistants guide and instruct you in the following areas:
- Understanding assignments and writing styles
- Writing the essay and critical analysis
- Supporting theses
- Revising for structure and grammar
- Documenting research
- Teaching proofreading strategies
More intensive essay instruction is available through a Writing Lab, ENG 110. You can arrange this training through the Writing Center.
