Is it very expensive to study abroad?
The cost of each study abroad program is calculated individually and includes expenses such as tuition, room, board, and transportation. Depending on your location, the tuition, room, and board costs for one semester abroad can be between $8,000 and $18,000. Although Ashland University scholarships cannot be used, federal and state aid can be applied toward the cost of your desired study abroad program.
Do I have to arrange for my own housing and meals?
All study abroad programs offered by Ashland University provide a housing plan, which may include a room with a host family, an apartment, or a residence hall. Dining services vary with each program.
Will my credit hours transfer?
With pre-planning, study abroad credit hours will transfer to Ashland University as major, minor, or institutional requirements.
Will I graduate on time if I study abroad?
With help from the Registrar and your Academic Adviser, you are able to adjust your four-year plan to include a study abroad experience. Students are encouraged to start planning early in their college career and to take classes abroad that will fulfill their Ashland University institutional requirements.
Do I have to be fluent in another language to study abroad?
While some programs require language ability, several program options do not require foreign language proficiency.
Is it difficult to apply for a study abroad program?
At the Global Education Office we will assist you with your study abroad preparation, which includes choosing an appropriate program that fits your interests and needs, applying for your program, and preparing you for your experience with a pre-departure orientation.
