Ashland University gives students the opportunity to complete their student teaching requirement both domestically and internationally. Student teaching abroad placements through the Consortium for Overseas Student Teaching, COST, are 6 weeks in length. The Southern Internship can be 6 or 12 weeks. Students can both student teach abroad and in the South, 6 weeks in each location. Schedules of all destinations include:
Weeks 1-2: Ed. 402 or Ed. 589 (B+)
Weeks 3-8: Student Teach in Ohio, through COST, or down South
Week 8: Weekend – Travel for COST or down South
Weeks 9-15: 7 weeks outside of Ohio; Southern students can elect to student teach away for the first 6 weeks and return to Ohio their last 6 weeks or teach in the South for 12 weeks. COST students can elect to go abroad their first or second 6 weeks.
Week 16: Final week of Ed. 402 or Ed. 589

Abroad Destinations
Ashland University is one of the 15 members in COST, Consortium for Overseas Student Teaching. This organization places students abroad for their student teaching experience. Ashland University allows students to go abroad for 6 weeks of their 12 week field placement (1st 6 weeks or 2nd 6 weeks). COST has placements in 16 countries. Visit the COST website to view them all.
