Service learning is a form of experiential education that engages the student in a meaningful application of academic knowledge in significant service to the community. It is a course-based, credit-bearing educational experience and is designed to promote civic responsibility, diversify and expand the student environment and aid in creating citizens aware of their global responsibilities.
Integrated Service Learning, which allows students to participate in service activities as a part of their course requirements.
Through the Plus-One Service Learning Option, students can earn an extra credit hour for adding service to an existing course.
Service Learning experiences include:
- Orientation or training specific to the service site
- Meaningful and engaging service
- Structured reflection
All Service Learning experiences are also noted on the student's transcript.
