The Plus-One Credit Option allows students to earn an extra institutional credit by doing 30 hours of service that is directly related to the course objectives of an already existing class and the service hours must be done concurrently to that particular course.
- The Plus-One Credit option is not a course in itself--one hour must be attached to an already existing course.
- The service learning experience must be tied to the academic content of a course with which it is taken.
- The Plus-One Service Option does not include any extra cost (as long as the student is enrolled in no more than 18 credit hours).
- The credit hour is evaluated as satisfactory/unsatisfactory (S/U).
- Under the Plus-One Credit option a student may receive no more than 3 service learning credit hours throughout their time at Ashland University and one hour per course. A minimum of 30 hours of service is required for one credit hour.
- The student must submit a Service Learning Contract to the Center for Community Service before beginning service.
- The Plus-One Credit may not apply to any major without the permission of the Department Chair and Dean of the College.
The Plus-One Service Learning Contract must be approved by the last day to add/drop classes in a given semester for credit to be given.
