We're excited to announce our 2012-2013 Diversity Scholars Program:
As a part of Ashland University’s Institutional Diversity Plan, Ashland offers a diversity scholarship of up to $3,000 per year for selected students. This scholarship program is designed to encourage academic proficiency, build leadership skills and make college more affordable to under-represented students at Ashland University.
Parents and students throughout our nation are struggling to find ways to make college affordable. At Ashland, we want to expand our capacity to leverage student’s institutional costs. We also recognize the profound impact of having a strong connection to their institution. For this reason, recipients of these scholarships will receive:
-
Scholarships up to $3,000. These monies will be in addition to the regular aid awarded by the University.
-
Intensive academic advising. Students will be scheduled to meet individually with professional advisors on a regular basis, with special attention given to spring semester registration.
- Mentoring. Invested faculty and staff will
serve as mentors to our students and be committed to their success. Direct follow-up on the student’s
progress will take place weekly throughout the first
six weeks of classes.
- Priority placement in other University programs.
Students will be guaranteed placement in
the Pathways Pre-Orientation Workshop and
have countless opportunities to have discounted
or priority placement in programs sponsored by the
Multicultural Student Services Office.
- Leadership development. Each student will
be challenged to develop leadership skills
through special workshops on campus and by
attending regional and state conferences.
