The purpose of the Panhellenic Council is to govern sororities in the areas of academics, philanthropy, unity, membership selection, and service to the campus. Panhellenic is responsible for many of the functions of the Greek community at Ashland University The Ashland University Panhellenic Council operates under the guidelines and of the National Panhellenic Conference.
The most notable function of the Council is to facilitate the formal recruitment process that occurs on campus each fall semester. Other programs and activities that are presented by Panhellenic include educational forums and speakers that cover topics such as breaking down sorority stereotypes, promoting responsible behaviors to avoid high risk situations, awareness of the influence of social media, and many others. The Panhellenic Council holds one all-sorority workshop each semester and also works with the Interfraternity Council to co-sponsor the all-Greek educational forums. Greek Week is a fun-filled eventful week that Panhellenic also co-sponsors with the Interfraternity Council.
The Panhellenic Council is comprised of women from each of the four sororities represented on campus. Not only do these women hold offices to provide services to the sorority community year-round, but they also serve as Recruitment Guides (Rho Gammas) to help potential new members through the formal recruitment process.
