About the Flu
- Be your own health care advocate, stay current through http://www.flu.gov
and http://www.cdc.gov
- Most healthy people recover from the flu without problems, but certain people are at high risk for serious complications
- College students are susceptible to contracting flu viruses due to their close proximity in residential units and classrooms
Flu Vaccination
Flu vaccine is available annually, usually in mid October. Schedules will be advertised in advance.
Getting vaccinated is the best way to avoid getting either the seasonal or the H1N1 flu.
* Plan to get a flu vaccination when it becomes available.
* Again this year (2011) the seasonal flu vaccination will also include the H1N1 vaccine, so you will only need one shot again this year.
* Flu shots will be available to Ashland University employees and students.
Get immediate medical care if you experience:
- Difficulty breathing or short of breath
- Pain or pressure in the chest or abdomen
- Sudden Dizziness
- Confusion
- Severe or persistent vomiting
- Flu-like symptoms improve but then return with fever and worse cough
