Isaiah Local
Missionaries to Ashland
While it is true that God wants to "send us out," it is also evident in the biblical account that God wants to use us right where we are. In addition to being called "to the ends of the earth," we are also called to our "Jerusalem." We are missionaries to Ashland, and God is calling Ashland University students to share His love starting right here at home.
Campus
The Isaiah Project approach to campus outreach is threefold: prayer, service, and evangelism.
- Sparks is the prayer focus of the Religious Life Network and is a great resource for students who desire God's heart for the lost, confused, hurting, and hopeless on campus. For every "Ashland missionary," this is a good place to start.
- The Isaiah Project also sponsors opportunities for service on campus. This may be as simple as passing out hot chocolate during the winter, taking out trash, or helping others move out of the dorms at the end of the year. Simple services such as these can demonstrate the love of Christ in us.
- Finally, the Isaiah Project encourages a relational approach to evangelism, that is intentionally building friendships with other members of the campus community. Isaiah Local also seeks to empower students to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with clarity, wisdom, and boldness by providing all the materials and guidance needed to share your faith.
Community
It can be easy to get caught in the "campus bubble" and lose sight of the truth that members of the Ashland University Community are also members of the City of Ashland. In reaching out to the community of Ashland, the Isaiah Project provides opportunities in partnership with Ashland University's Center for Community Service and with 5 Stones Community Church. See how you can get involved in what God is doing here in Ashland.
Urban Plunge
Each semester, The Isaiah Project partners with the Center for Community Service to host an Urban Plunge. These Saturday day-trips travel to an urban location in the greater Ohio area and work with established ministries there. From serving the homeless to playing with children, participants always have the opportunity to love and serve those in need. Urban Plunge sign-ups will be available in the Center of Religious Life, and all are welcome to participate. Check the calendar for the next Urban Plunge.
