Hone your skills of thought and communication.
Ashland University’s English Department teaches students to read well, think carefully, and write clearly, logically, and creatively.
Whatever career course you take in the future, these skills will serve you well. Professors in the English department work closely with students in classes that never exceed 21 students in the upper level courses and typically include 18 or fewer students in the freshman year. Students have opportunities to visit international destinations of literary importance during two-to-three week tours with professors or even take a full semester studying abroad.
What you will enjoy about our English programs:
- Receiving individual attention and coaching from professors who are published authors
- Studying important authors and texts
- Hearing well-known authors and poets
- Having the opportunity to have your works published in Passages, a journal of student publication
