Have you ever thought you wanted to teach students who learn differently than most?
Do you already recognize the value of diversity in our world? One of the most personally rewarding careers available to undergraduate students is the profession of intervention specialist (Special Education) K-12, available to qualified candidates beginning in their sophomore year. We are looking for undergraduates who are driven by a passion to serve and a love of complex problem solving. We are looking for students who believe that ALL children can learn, if educators provide the right supports!
Employability
Since the education of students with disabilities is mandated by Federal Law, the professional license you earn at Ashland University as an intervention specialist will enable you to find employment throughout your lifetime. Such a shortage of special educators currently exists throughout the United States and the world that you will be able, literally, to take your skills wherever you wish to live and find employment as an intervention specialist.
Our Graduates Find Work Instantly!
Because of their intervention licensure, our graduates are far more marketable and have found employment easily. Several graduates who wished to teach abroad have worked successfully for the Department of Defense Schools in Guam, Spain, Germany and Italy. Students from other countries, such as Botswana and Japan, have come to Ashland for training and returned to successful careers in their home countries.
