Religion major with a concentration in Practical Theology and minors in Recreation Ministry and Mathematics
I began as a freshman at Ashland University as a Computer Art and Graphics Programming major in the fall of 2003. Little did I know that four semesters and two majors later, I would find myself in the office of Dr. Don Rinehart asking him to be my advisor as a religion major. I chose to become a religion major after spending two summers working in camp ministry at Camp Mowana in Mansfield, OH. Those two summers had a huge impact on my life and affirmed a calling to ministry that I had felt for a long time.
My time as a religion major has been a very positive experience as professors continue to take interest and excitement in the projects that I take on from papers to internships to my senior thesis. My experiences both in and out of the classroom at Ashland have been complemented with a variety of mission and ministry opportunities that have helped me to form a solid foundation in various areas of practical ministry. My most formative experiences have been interning at Camp Mowana and taking part in a bicycling ministry called Spoke Folk. In the future I plan to enter some form of ministry with youth or young adults through a non-profit organization or in a church setting, camp setting or on a college campus.
