Prepare for a career in professional theatre as a performer, designer or technician.
As a student of Theatre at Ashland University, you have many options. You can earn a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre with your choice of a track in Acting, Design/Technical, Musical Theatre or General Theatre, which is for students who would like to continue to explore both the design/technical and performance aspects of theatre.
Whatever your choice, you can be confident you will receive a solid foundation in Theatre, which includes acting, dance, design, directing, dramatic literature, history, stagecraft and theory.

Career Outlook for Theatre Majors
Many theatre majors hone their skills through work in summer stock, local theatre groups and on cruise ships or in theme parks. Membership in organized unions can lead to positions in cities like New York, Chicago or Los Angeles. Employment in the theatre and entertainment is cyclical and there are regions of the country that are more favorable for finding employment, such as major coastal cities. The growth in career opportunities for those seeking actor, producer or director positions is estimated at 11-12 percent between 2006 and 2016.
