RESEARCH HELP FOR ED.D. STUDENTS
A specialized research guide (a.k.a. LibGuide) has been developed to assist students enrolled in the Dwight Schar College of Education's doctoral program.
FINDING BOOKS & OTHER MATERIALS
The Library's online catalog is used to determine what is in the Ashland University Library collection (ex. books, periodicals, CDs, DVDs, IRC collection materials) and where individual items are located. Floor directories for the main campus Library building are posted inside and outside the elevators as well as on the Library's website.
BORROWING FROM ASHLAND UNIVERSITY LIBRARY
Your Ashland University ID card also serves as your library card, enabling you to borrow library materials. Lending periods vary depending on type of material. Click here to view the Library's circulation policies.
BORROWING FROM OTHER LIBRARIES IN OHIO
Ashland University Library is a member of OhioLINK, a group of 80+ statewide libraries. OhioLINK offers online borrowing through its central OhioLINK library catalog.
Note: This service is not used to request articles.
INTERLIBRARY LOAN
Interlibrary loan is a free service used by students for getting:
- books unavailable through OhioLINK;
- articles not available through the Ashland University Library's databases or print periodicals collection.
Books requested through interlibrary loan are delivered to the main campus Library's Circulation Desk. Requesters will receive an e-mail informing them when items are ready to be picked up.
Articles requested through interlibrary loan are e-mailed directly to the requester.
Links to the separate online interlibrary loan request forms for books and articles are available in the right-hand column of the Ashland University Library homepage (in the "Popular Pages" section).
RESERVES
Ashland University Library has both paper and electronic (online) reserves available.
The paper reserves collection includes books, DVDs, CDs, and other physical items. These items are available at the Circulation Desk and are searchable through the Ashland University Library catalog (see the left-hand box in the fourth row).
The electronic reserves collection (Ereserves) includes scanned articles and other documents in electronic form that are accessible online. These documents are searchable through the Ereserves portal by instructor name, course, and author/title.
RENEWING LIBRARY MATERIALS AND YOUR LIBRARY ACCOUNT
You can monitor your library account by logging in to MY ACCOUNT, a link for which appears in the left-hand menu of the Ashland University Library homepage.
The MY ACCOUNT feature, which covers both Ashland University and OhioLINK materials, allows students to monitor due dates, renew materials, and check the status of OhioLINK material requests. (Note: Renewal online only works up through the day before the due date.)
CONNECTING TO DATABASES AND OTHER ONLINE RESOURCES FROM OFF-CAMPUS LOCATIONS
To use Ashland University Library databases and other assorted online resources from off campus (not including the Ashland University or OhioLINK library catalogs), students must first log in. The log-in (authentication) screen appears when a student clicks on a link for a database or other online resource. Authentication lasts for two hours, after which time re-authentication will be prompted when a student accesses a different online resource.
Go here for more information about off-campus access.
LIBRARY COMPUTERS AND LOANER LAPTOPS
