The goal of Group X is to promote active living through physical fitness by offering a variety of fun, safe and appropriately challenging exercise classes for the Ashland University community. Group X also provides participants with the opportunity to meet new people, find motivation in working out with others, and increase fitness levels with great workouts and enthusiastic instructors!
About the Program
Group X offers 25-30 land and water based exercise classes each semester with over 5,000 participants annually. Classes are free to all Ashland University Rec Center members and are located in our 30 person Aerobics Studio. Group X classes are instructed by certified group exercise instructors and other highly trained staff. All Group X instructors are affiliated with Ashland University as students or staff.
Group X classes are typically categorized in five different areas: cardiovascular, strength, mind/body, combination, and instructional. Each class is placed into one of these five categories and color-coded accordingly on the Group X schedule.
Group X also offers a variety of 1 to 4 week specialty and instructional classes through the X Factor program. This program is designed to bring unique fitness related programs Ashland University. X factor programs are hosted in a variety of different locations including the Aerobics Room, MAC court, Rec Center running track, and even on the Quad! Previous X Factor programming included salsa dancing, the long ride, swing dancing, outdoor yoga, beach boot camp, Detroit ballroom dancing, and self defense.
The benefits of participating in Group X classes are endless! No matter the fitness level, gender, interest, or background, the Group X program has a class for everyone.
