International Travel Cards

Ashland University has been licensed to issue International Student Identity Cards (ISIC), International Teacher Identity Cards (ITIC), and International Youth Travel Cards (IYTC) by STA Travel.  The cards allow the holder to obtain substantial student discounts on airfare and reduced admission at participating museums.  In addition, it provides supplemental international insurance coverage.

AU students traveling overseas on academic programs or mission trips are required to obtain an ISIC.  The cost for the card is included in the study abroad administrative fee, so there is no extra charge to the student.

OPTIONAL UPGRADE - TRIP INTERRUPTION & CANCELLATION INSURANCE

When traveling on a faculty-led or mission trip, it is AU policy that if your flight would be delayed/canceled, then you would be responsible to pay for any lodging and meals during the wait period. Your program leader may help with group meals and hotel accommodations by using an AU credit card, but upon return the expenses would be evenly split and billed among the participants. Upgrading your ID card to include trip interruption & cancellation insurance is optional.

Through the International ID Card, you can upgrade and purchase trip cancellation & interruption insurance. Upgrading your current travel insurance plan to include trip cancellation and trip interruption coverage will provide reimbursement of non-refundable deposits if you are unable to travel or your trip is cancelled or cut short for unexpected covered reasons such as sickness, injury, weather and more. The cost is 7.5% of your flight or program price (you can decide if you just want insurance for your flight or for the entire program). For example, insurance for a $700 flight would cost $52. The upgrade can be done on-line.  See links below.
