Vice President Facilies Management & Planning
Patrick (Rick) Ewing was raised on a farm in Ashland, Ohio. He received his Bachelor of Science in Art and Design with a concentration in Building Technologies from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology School of Architecture in 1992. Shortly after graduating from MIT, he began his career as a structural engineer at Korda/Nemeth Engineering in Columbus Ohio. At Korda, Rick provided structural engineering services and also represented the firm as project manager on many full service engineering projects.
In 2004, Rick moved back to Ashland and took a position as project and facilities engineer for Ashland University. In 2007 he was named director of Physical Plant, overseeing construction and facilities operations of the 1.5 million square feet of campus buildings and over 420 acres of land. In 2009, Rick was further promoted to Executive Director of Facilities Management and Planning and then in 2010, he was named as Vice President and appointed to the President’s Cabinet.
In addition to his professional life, Rick is an active member of his community where he is now serving his third, four-year term on the Ashland City and the Ashland County Career Center Boards of Education. He also serves on the Ashland Main Street Board and is on the Board of Directors at a Columbus based engineering firm.
In his private life, Rick’s activities center on his family. He and his wife Jenn, are blessed with eight children (3 girls and 5 boys) ranging in age from 3 to 19 years. When he can, Rick enjoys nature activities, working on an infinite list of home improvement projects, and helping out on the family farm.
