Vice President for Enrollment Management and Marketing (VPEMM)

Position Summary:

Ashland University invites a higher education professional seeking a collaborative, innovative, and exciting leadership team experience to apply for the Vice President for Enrollment Management and Marketing (VPEMM). The VPEMM will be expected to contribute broadly to all aspects of the fulfillment of AU's mission and growth. This position offers a unique opportunity to an innovative professional hoping to join a faith-affiliated, private comprehensive university with aggressive enrollment goals to add to current enrollment of approximately 7,460 students. This key position serves on the President's Executive Leadership Team and provides leadership and support to all aspects of enrollment management and marketing. Direct reports include: Director of Undergraduate Admissions, Director of Graduate, Adult, Online Admissions, Director of Graduate, Online and Adult Center for Academic Support Services, Director of Public Relations, Director of Marketing, Executive Director of Enrollment Services and Operations, and the Associate Vice President for Corporate Connections.

Essential Position Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides strategic direction and leadership to the entire Enrollment Management and Marketing division including residential, graduate, and online students.
  • Identifies and employs current enrollment best practices in admissions, online, advising, recruitment and marketing to drive consistent enrollment growth across programs in alignment with institutional goals.
  • Provides leadership in the implementation and operations of major enrollment software such as the enrollment CRM, communication plan software, etc.
  • Engages the entire AU community and collaborates across departments to set and fulfill enrollment management initiatives and marketing priorities.
  • Initiates, analyzes, and utilizes relevant data and market trends in planning, decision-making, reporting, and management.
  • Administers and oversees all aspects of the Enrollment Management and Marketing budget.
  • Assures policies and procedures are in accordance with state and federal laws and regulations, and the University's goals and objectives.
  • Provides support to the President and the Board of Trustees.

Position Requirements:

Expected experience and qualities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • An earned Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution is required.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of on-line education experience in higher education institutions.
  • Terminal degree preferred in a related field with at least five (5) years of progressively higher levels of responsibility in enrollment management or other higher education administrative management, business or sales unit/department; including director of admissions, or related role, with experience in a private college or university setting.
  • Significant experience with online and social media marketing strategies for students in all modalities.
  • Ability to provide significant leadership in managing relationships with a variety of partners such as OPMs, online marketing, call centers, digital marketing firms, etc.
  • Personal commitment to the institutional mission, identity, and core values including institutional commitment to Christian values, and the ability to lead and serve in such a manner.
  • Demonstrated record of success in growing enrollments, team building, and collaboration efforts.
  • Relevant experience with the development and use of data and analytics, and an in-depth knowledge of current policy, enrollment trends, technology, and strategic higher education practices to make informed decisions.
  • Strong preference for an individual with extensive online education experience and proven track record of establishing best practices for online student success.
  • Evidence of working as a team member with a student-centered educational philosophy.
  • History of supervisory experience including staff recruitment, development, and management.
  • Significant experience in planning, change management, problem solving, and organizing processes and people.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the acumen to persuasively articulate AU's mission, programs, impact, and goals to diverse audiences, both internal and external.
