The Instructional Training and Learning Management team has several tools available for online learning. ITLM offers training on all of the tools as well as private consultation for help with course design. Upcoming trainings can be found on the ITLM Training Calendar.
ANGEL is the Learning Management System for Ashland University. ANGEL is web-based software that students taking online courses or supplementing their traditional courses will login to access course material, assessments, online discussion, mail and chat with instructors and classmates.
Mediasite is a presentation recording technology that allows us to simultaneously capture a presenter and the presentation content in a clean, easy-to-view format. Lectures, interviews and class presentations can be recorded and uploaded in minutes to be shared within online classes or available for the public. All recordings are kept private unless otherwise requested. The links to your intellectual property can be protected by placing them within your ANGEL course, behind ANGEL's authentication, so that only those with an ANGEL login and permissions to view your course can see your course content.
To request a Mediasite recording, complete the Mediasite Request Form with the information that is specific to your recording. The Mediasite Coordinator will schedule your recording and setup the necessary equipment for your recording. Once the recording is completed, the Mediasite Coordinator will send your links to you to place in your ANGEL course.
Quality Matters (QM) is a faculty-centered, peer review process that is designed to certify the quality of online and blended courses. A course that is certified by QM means that the course has established alignment between course objectives, unit/module objectives, instruction and assessment. Alignment simply means that the course teaches what it set out to teach and students are assessed on what the course set out to teach. QM certification also means that the course has consistent and logical navigation as well as meets accessibility standards.
WebEx is a real-time collaboration product. Classes can be taught via distance with WebEx. Students and faculty come together in a virtual classroom and students can see and hear the instructor as well as the notes and presentation that the instructor is teaching on. In return, the instructor also has the ability to allow students to give presentations to other members in the class. It is a great tool to do all of the things via distance that used to be only possible in a traditional setting.
