Instructional Tools

The LearnAU team has several tools available for online learning.  LearnAU offers training on all of the tools as well as private consultation for help with course design.

Blackboard Learn

Blackboard Learn is the Learning Management System for Ashland University. Blackboard Learn is web-based software that students taking online courses or supplementing their traditional courses will login to access course material, assessments, online discussion, mail and chat with instructors and classmates.

Kaltura is a presentation recording technology that allows us to simultaneously capture a presenter and the presentation content in a clean, easy-to-view format.  Lectures, interviews and class presentations can be recorded and uploaded in minutes to be shared within online classes or available for the public. All recordings are kept private unless otherwise requested. The links to your intellectual property can be protected by placing them within your Blackboard course, behind Blackboard's authentication, so that only those with a Blackboard login and permissions to view your course can see your course content.

For more information about Kaltura, see our Kaltura getting started page.

Collaborate is a real-time collaboration product integrated into Blackboard Learn. Classes can be taught via distance with Collaborate. Students and faculty come together in a virtual classroom and students can see and hear the instructor as well as the notes and presentation that the instructor is teaching on. In return, the instructor also has the ability to allow students to give presentations to other members in the class. It is a great tool to do all of the things via distance that used to be only possible in a traditional setting.
