Interim Vice President for Enrollment Management and Marketing
Peter Rios is the Interim Vice President for Enrollment Management and Marketing at Ashland University; and is an expert in organizational behavior and leadership, change management and intercultural studies.
Rios came to Ashland University in 2018, from Fresno Pacific University in Fresno, Calif. At FPU, he served as the Associate Vice President for Academic Innovation. In this role, he provided leadership to academics and enrollment services for the Department of Continuing Education, the Center for Online Learning and the development of new academic initiatives. Prior to FPU, Rios served as a Program Director for the DeVoe School of Business at Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Ind..
In 2012, Rios co-founded Robust Innovative Organizational Solutions (RIOS), a consulting firm that applies organization and leadership theories to assist religious institutions, businesses, and colleges in the areas of leadership development, market position, and organizational diversity, equity and inclusion.
Rios, an experienced teacher, has taught numerous courses in both business and religious studies, from the associates to doctoral level. He has also taught in different modalities, from face-to-face, online synchronous to asynchronous, and in traditional settings to traditional undergraduates and adult students.
Rios is currently pursuing a second doctoral degree (PhD) from Fuller Graduate Schools, which he anticipates completing in 2020. He has conducted research in intercultural studies at Fuller Theological Seminary as a King Scholar, and further doctoral coursework in urban education and leadership at the University of Southern California. He holds a Doctorate in Strategic Leadership from Regent University School of Business and Leadership, and a Master of Arts in Theological Studies from Northeastern Seminary.
Rios grew up in Dunkirk, N.Y., a city similar in size to Ashland, Ohio. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1999, and served as a recruiter and a primary marksmanship instructor. While serving his country, he was stationed in Okinawa, Japan and South Korea. He and his wife, Dr. Ruby Rios, live in Ashland, Ohio.
