Lineup & Procession

Spring 2016 Commencement Ceremony

The Spring 2016 Commencement is Saturday, May 14, at 10 a.m. at the Dwight Schar Athletic Complex's Miller Stadium. The procession will begin at 9:45 a.m. and graduates are to assemble at 9 a.m. at the Ferguson Soccer Complex, which is just southwest of Miller Stadium.

Information there will show you how to line up in assigned areas according to the degree received. You should go to these areas and line up alphabetically. The time schedule is as follows:

  • 9 a.m. -- Graduates line up in assigned area, by degree, alphabetically and double line.
  • 9:45 a.m. -- On the sound of chapel bells, the marshal will lead the graduates toward Miller Stadium. As they reach the back of the stadium, graduates will stand on the edge of the walkway so that faculty can march between the ldouble lines of students.
  • 9:50 a.m. -- Faculty will proceed to seating in the stadium while students will follow the platform party and proceed to seating on the stadium floor as the band begins to play processional.

Additional seating will be available in the Student Center Eagles’ Nest and the Student Center Auditorium, where the ceremony will be shown live at each venue. The event also will be broadcast on the www.ashland.edu website.

In the event of rain, the ceremony will be held in Kates Gymnasium inside the Physical Education Center and lineup for students and faculty will be in the Conard Field House located just west of the Physical Education Center. Each undergraduate and graduate student will receive four tickets for this indoor event and all graduates will be given these tickets when you pick up your cap and gown. Overflow seating will be available in the Student Center Eagles’ Nest and the Student Center Auditorium, where the ceremony will be broadcast live at each venue (see campus map for locations).

The event also will be broadcast on the
www.ashland.edu website.

If you have any questions regarding the ceremony, please contact the Office of Records and Registration at 419.289.5029. If your plans change and you are unable to attend the ceremony, please notify the Office of Records and Registration by May 1.

Once the ceremony has begun, men should follow the President in removing and replacing caps. Graduation etiquette suggests that graduates remain for the entire ceremony.

Please check your diploma for errors and report them to the Office of Records and Registration following the ceremony.

Congratulations on this special day.
