Winter 2016 Commencement Ceremony
The Winter 2016 Commencement is Saturday, Dec. 17, at 10 a.m. in Kates Gymnasium located in the Physical Education Center. The procession will begin at 9:55 a.m. and graduates are to assemble at 9:15 a.m. at the west end of Conard Field House, which is located just west of the Physical Education Center.
Information there will show you how to line up in assigned areas according to the degree received. You should go to these areas and line up alphabetically. The time schedule is as follows:
- 9:15 a.m. -- Graduates line up in assigned area, by degree, alphabetically and double line.
- 9:45 a.m. -- The marshal will lead the graduates through the hallway of the Wurster Fitness Center toward Kates Gymnasium.
- 9:55 a.m. -- Faculty will march between the double lines of graduates and proceed to their assigned seats in Kates Gymnasium.. After faculty members have passed through the lines, graduates will bring lines together and proceed into Kates Gymnasium and to assigned seating.
Additional seating will be available in the Student Center Eagles’ Nest and the Student Center Auditorium, where the ceremony will be shown live at each venue. The event also will be broadcast on the www.ashland.edu website.
If you have any questions regarding the ceremony, please contact the Office of Records and Registration at 419.289.5029. If your plans change and you are unable to attend the ceremony, please notify the Office of Records and Registration by Dec. 9.
Once the ceremony has begun, men should follow the President in removing and replacing caps. Graduation etiquette suggests that graduates remain for the entire ceremony.
