Spring 2018 Commencement Ceremony
The Spring 2018 Commencement ceremony will be held on Jones’ Terrace on the front lawn of Founders Hall, which is located near College Avenue. The procession will begin at 9:55 a.m. and all graduates are to assemble at 9 a.m. on the large brick patio area between Clark and Kilhefner halls near King Road. Information there will show you how to line up in the assigned areas according to the degree received. You should go to these areas and line up alphabetically.
The time schedule is as follows:
9 a.m. Graduates line up in assigned area, by degree, alphabetically and double line. During this lineup, each graduate will be given a card with his or her name and honors listed.
9:45 a.m. On the sound of chapel bells, the marshal will lead the graduates to the north side of the library. Students will stand on each edge of the walkway so that faculty can march between the lines of students.
9:55 a.m. The faculty will proceed to the front of the line and lead the students to the seating as the band begins to play processional.
In the event of rain, the ceremony for undergraduate students will be held in Kates Gymnasium inside the Physical Education Center and lineup for these students and undergraduate faculty will be in the Conard Field House located just west of the Physical Education Center. The ceremony for graduate students will be held in Hugo Young Theatre in the Center for the Arts and lineup for the graduate students will be in the Recital Hall, Room 115, Center for the Arts, while lineup for graduate faculty will be in Room 101/102 Center for the Arts. No tickets will be required for the indoor events. Overflow seating will be available in the Student Center Eagles’ Nest and the Student Center Auditorium, where the ceremony will be broadcast live at each venue (see enclosed map for locations). The event also will be broadcast on the www.ashland.edu website.
