Dr. Deborah Fleming, English Professor - Reading

4 pm - Ronk Lecture Hall - Schar 138

Deborah Fleming's recently-published book "Towers of Myth and Stone:   Yeats's Influence on Robinson Jeffers" is the first full-length study of the poetry and drama of these two major writers of the early twentieth century.  She demonstrates how Yeats inspired Jeffers to develop his own modernist lyric style, influenced Jeffers's use of myth, and gave Jeffers the philosophical foundation for his ideas about eternal recurrence, anti-rationalism, and traditionalism.
