Rebecca Heinrichs – Class of 2004

Ashland University's History and Political Science departments, with the Ashbrook Scholar Program, helped equip me with the tools to conduct serious research and analysis, and taught me how to use what I learn from the past to inform my positions on contemporary policies. There was a special emphasis on Western Civilization and the American Founding, which revealed, contrary to the teaching of many universities, that America is indeed exceptional. There are few undergraduate programs like Ashbrook that have professors who respect their students and the authors of the books they explore with them. Now, I consult on security policy in Washington, D.C. and am a Visiting Fellow at the Heritage Foundation. I am continually grateful for the education I received at Ashland University.
