Music at Ashland University

Whether you want to study music as a major or minor, or continue your involvement in music by performing in an excellent ensemble, the Ashland University department of music offers you many opportunities.

Degree Programs

We also offer music as a minor, to serve as a complement to other majors, especially theatre. For more information on Ashland's Music Theatre program, see the Department of Theatre's website.

Our Strengths

  • Outstanding, dedicated artist-teachers and scholars who encourage and inspire excellence and emphasize an accent on the individual.

  • Small class sizes and individual attention with an environment which is both challenging and supportive. The right combination for success.

  • Fine ensembles that are an active part of campus life and include both music majors and non-majors performing concerts on campus and touring regionally each year with regular tours abroad.

  • Events outside the classroom: domestic and international tours, visiting guest artist recitals, student field trips to hear performances by internationally renowned musicians, professional conference attendance.

  • Accreditation by the National Association of Schools of Music.
