As a criminal justice major at Ashland University you will not only explore a fascinating curriculum that is highly relevant today, but you will take part in field experiences that give you in-depth knowledge of the criminal justice system, investigation methods, the courts and correctional facilities.

What You’ll Love About the Criminal Justice Program:

Ashland University Criminal Justice graduates now serve the public good with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Drug Enforcement Administration, Department of Homeland Security, Federal Bureau of Prisons, the Ohio Highway Patrol, the Ohio Department of Rehabilitations and Correction, many county Sheriff's Departments and municiple Police Departments, and as parole and probation officers at the federal, state, and local levels.

Students can graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice in 3 years while still including a minor of their choice.  Or if the student wishes, they also have the opportunity to graduate with two majors or multiple minors all within 4 years.  These timeframes can be reduced with transfer credits and professional training hours which can be applied for college credit.

Ashland University is endorsed by the Ohio Fraternal Order of Police and we are proud to sponsor the FOP.  Members of the FOP enjoy reduced tuition rates for themselves and their families.  Ashland University also has a relationship with the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction to offer transfer credit for ODRC training.

For students not already working in the field, the Criminal Justice program encourages all of our students to participate in at least one internship opportunity.  Ashland Univeristy partners with many federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies to place our students in internships that help the student explore the world of criminal justice.  Over the past several years, over 60% of our studnets have taken advantage of internships as a pathway to learn the inner-workings of vaious agencies and to cement professional relationships.

Ashland University has a unique internship relationship with the Advanced Technical Intellegence Center (ATIC) in Dayton, OH.  The ATIC offers qulaified students the opportunity to internin their cybersecurity and intellence group where students work with members of the FBI, CIA, NSA, DEA, and DHS.  100% of the CJ majors who attended theATIC recommend upper class students interested in the Intelligence Community to participate in this innovative program.  Eligible students are sponsored for a top-secret security clearance and students work with real world criminal justice cases that are worked in conjunction with local, state and Federal law enforcement.

All Ashland University faculty in the Department of Criminal Justice have professional experience in the criminal justice field.
