George Kuo

George Kuo has a B.A. in Sociology from the University of Akron and a Masters in Social Administration from Case Western Reserve University. His practice specialty is medical social work, with extensive experience in crisis intervention, psychosocial assessment, supervision and administration. Professor Kuo has been a director of social work services at several Akron regional hospitals, and has experience working directly with children, adult mental health, renal, and orthopedic populations. He is a co-founder of the Portage County Child Advocacy Center, pioneered the first emergency social work service at Akron Children's Hospital, is published, and has helped establish the Ashland ACCESS church program for the homeless, and was awarded the Leadership Ashland Outstanding Alumnus award for community service in 2007.  Professor Kuo has taught as an Adjunct at Ashland University from 2007-09, and has presented workshops on a variety of subjects, locally, nationally, and internationally.
