Scott Saunders, Adjunct Professor in the JDM program, joined the Ashland University faculty in 2015. He teaches Basic and Advanced Audio Production. He is also General Manager of WVMC Radio in Mansfield, where he also teaches radio as an elective at Mansfield Christian School, the owners of WVMC. He also records afternoon drive shows for WLOH in Lancaster, Ohio.
Scott’s career has spanned over 30 years and began innocently enough at Scott Co. Sr. High in Georgetown, Ky., when he tried out for the school speech team, and the faculty advisor gave him Associated Press news copy to read. That’s when the radio “bug” bit him. At Lehigh/Carbon Community College, he volunteered at the campus radio station, and got his first “professional” on-air job at WZZO in Bethlehem, Pa. in 1978.
Since then, he received his Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications from Michigan State University in 1981, and worked in several radio stations, across several formats, from Light Adult Contemporary to Big Band, Top 40, Talk, Christian Adult Contemporary, Christian Praise & Worship, and Country. Scott also spent time as a Traffic Reporter for Metro Networks, and did Farm Broadcasting. His primary focus is on audio production and radio imaging.
