Theatre -General Track

Bachelor of Arts in Theatre (B.A.)

Our General track provides students with the opportunity to explore the design/tech as well as performance and management areas of theatre. Students can take courses in acting, directing, design, stage management or arts management.

Many students interview with and are hired by professional theatre companies in the summer. Our Theatre majors have worked as technicians or performers for the following theatre companies:

  • American Folklore Theatre
  • The Barn Theatre
  • Summer Stock at Findlay
  • Tecumseh Outdoor Drama

Audition and interview skills and design portfolios are assessed each year to meet the department student-learning outcome that students will be prepared to interview for professional theatre. General Track students can opt to present their resume and portfolios or resume and audition materials each spring as part of the department’s Assessment Auditions and Interviews.

Graduates of the General Track are prepared for careers as professional technicians (carpenters, master electricians, stitchers), professional actors or for further study in graduate school. Recent graduates have been accepted by M.A. or MFA programs at the following universities:

In addition to courses in a specialized track, all Theatre majors take courses in acting, design, directing, dramatic literature, history and theatre technology. These foundation courses provide students with the fundamental skills and tools necessary to be a well-rounded theatre artist.
