CREATING A POSITIVE SCHOOL CULTURE K-12
I believe in Robert Greenleaf’s words of wisdom: “Leaders are servants to those they lead.” If we want to lead in ways that make an impact, using an asset-based approach is the way to go. My forthcoming book, Asset-based Coaching: 10 Habits to Grow the Reader’s and Writer’s Workshop (Benchmark, 2021), explores 10 coaching habits that inspire a positive learning culture and builds capacity across the learning community. Spoiler alert! You don’t have to be in an official instructional coaching role to take on a leadership role and help build capacity across your learning community because our educational systems have natural leadership roles built in. If you are a curriculum director, principal, instructional coach, department chair, PLC leader, grade level chair, team lead, or teacher, you’ll be able to adopt or adapt the 2 habits we’ll explore in this course to meet your needs. And, in doing so, you’ll positively impact school culture and build capacity.
