Are you an educator who feels emotionally drained at the end of the school day? As you reflect, do you spend most of your time settling arguments, comforting crying children, and reminding students that fighting isn't the answer? If so, this course is the perfect fit for you! Aligned to Ohio's educator standards, Social Emotional Learning features theories, resources, and ideas that can be immediately implemented in any subject area or grade level. A sample of included topics is as follows: the SEL competencies and how to teach them to students, mindfulness and it's impact on student focus and impulse control, and brain-focused strategies for learning.
Participants will be asked to complete assignments, reflections, and share evidence of implementation via sample lesson plans. There are 6 modules. Each module has 2-3 lessons.
The Social Emotional Learning course will allow participants to: teach the 5 SEL competencies; know how mindfulness increases students' focus, decreases test anxiety, and improves impulse control; understand how effective classroom management impacts a student's social emotional development.
