IMA Accounting Club

The Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) is a worldwide organization for accountants and financial professional working in industry.  The IMA Accounting Club offers personal and professional development opportunities to accounting majors and minors by bringing students into contact with business professionals and recruiters, and by assisting students with their career and Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certification planning.

The club co-sponsors events with the Ohio Society of CPA's (OSCPA), which represents most certified public accountants in the state.

Benefits of Joining

Our primary focus at IMA is to equip our members with the resources they need to achieve personal and professional growth, which will apply to not only their time here as a student at Ashland University, but also to their careers upon graduation.  IMA seeks to facilitate this growth through three beneficial dimensions: education, networking, and leadership.

○     Enhanced Knowledge:  By addressing a wide range of business and accounting topics throughout the year, IMA aims to enrich the technical knowledge of and enable the development of soft skills for its student members.  Recent IMA meetings within the past year have focused on content such as the CMA exam, the CPA exam, internal auditing, how to succeed at career fairs, and much more!

○     Networking Opportunities:  Whether it is through interacting with one’s own peers or with business professionals from outside organizations, attending IMA meetings and sponsored career fairs provide students with ample opportunities to practice and expand upon their networking abilities.

○     Leadership Development:  By providing students with educational experiences and networking opportunities, we aim to give our members a solid foundation as they develop into competent business professionals and leaders in their chosen field.  We currently have seven officer positions and several other student representative positions that enable our students to exhibit and expand upon their leadership abilities.
