Office of Field Experiences and Internships

With up to three field experiences completed in a variety of school settings before the 12-week internship (student teaching), our programs provide you with the necessary knowledge, skills and dispositions to be successful in the classroom. The Field Experience and Internship Office plays a valuable role in your AU experience. It is also through this office that you can apply to complete your internship through the Consortium of Overseas Teaching (COST) in countries such as Australia, Greece, Ireland, etc. or nationally in South Carolina, Florida or other southern location.  Field directors are available at the Ashland campus and our regional campus located in Columbus.

Office of Testing & Licensure

Do you have questions about teacher or administrative licensure? Licensure exams? The Office of Testing and Licensure can assist you! The Office of Testing and Licensure assists education students in the process of obtaining their initial teaching licenses as well as additional teaching and administrative licenses. This process includes presenting important information to the students in their education classes and in seminars. Students are also assisted in the procedures for licensure exams, GRE and MAT testing. Personnel within the office:

  • evaluate potential teachers and administrators in determining the qualifications they need to become licensed.

  • act as a resource for State of Ohio requirements including the renewal and upgrading of licenses.

  • answer questions concerning licensure and to verify completion of the necessary requirements for the State of Ohio.
