American Secondary Education is a distinctive journal because it is one of the few scholarly journals focused solely on issues of concern to administrators, teachers, and researchers in middle and high school education. Articles submitted to the journal should address current theory, research and practice that have a clear relevance to secondary education. The journal features two kinds of articles. Research reports and reviews of literature should be unbiased and scholarly in nature. Such articles may be 20-25 pages in length. Informed commentary articles argue for a particular action agenda by citing relevant literature. Articles in this category should be limited to 10-15 manuscript pages. The Editor welcomes articles about innovative school and district programs, effective classroom practices at the high school and middle school levels and issues relating to the achievement, lifestyles, attitudes and culture of adolescents.
An electronic copy of your manuscript should be submitted to firstname.lastname@example.org at Ashland University. All copy must be double spaced, with margins of at least one inch. When used, heading and subheadings should be consistent. Indentations or other special arrangements of the text should be clearly indicated. It is essential that the entire manuscript be double spaced, including footnotes, references and tables. Manuscripts should be approximately 10-25 pages in length, including a 100-word abstract. The Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA) 6th Edition is to be used to guide the preparation of the manuscript. When submitting a manuscript, please include your educational affiliation, academic title, terminal degree and/or other qualifications or experiences pertinent to your article. It is assumed that the author of the article will include written permission for any quoted materials that require it. All manuscripts are submitted blind to two reviewers for evaluation. The Editor reserves the right to make any editorial changes to manuscripts to achieve greater clarity. Authors must not submit any manuscript which is under consideration by another publisher.
