Dr. Marian Maxfield, Assistant Professor, joined Ashland University faculty, specifically the Curriculum and Instruction department and Educational Technology team in 2011. She has taught in public and charter schools in face-to-face and fully online and designed online curriculum for K-20 learning environments. She designed and taught English and Math curriculum for 8-12 grade online students and multiple online and blended undergraduate and graduate level educational courses and workshops in educational psychology, instructional technology, and basics of technology programs for Kent State University and the University of Akron. She previously worked with the First Ladies National Library to design online and class curriculum for teachers' worldwide. Marian has also worked with international secondary school teachers and administrators through a US grant program.   Research interests include mobile technology, electronic portfolios, online learning environments, discussion forums, Information Literacy, and Problem-Based Learning. She has presented at local, national, and international educational and medical conferences. 
Dr. Maxfield received her undergraduate degree from The University of Akron in Secondary Education with emphasis on English, Psychology, and Sociology. She also received a Masters Degree in Instructional Technology and a PhD in Educational Psychology and Instructional Technology at Kent State University. Both graduate degrees were 90% or more online, which provides the advantage of being a student and teacher of online courses.
