Full-Time Faculty Advise You

Full-time faculty, all of whom are trained, licensed and experienced intervention specialists themselves, serve as academic advisors to students in the undergraduate licensure programs. You are assigned a faculty advisor in the program which you choose and that person will meet with you regularly to advise on coursework and to monitor your progress through the program.

Council for Exceptional Children (CEC)

There are many Clubs and Organizations that you can join at Ashland University. The Council for Exceptional Children has a chapter on campus. This student led organization is a great opportunity for students interested in the field of special education. To learn more about this organization contact the club president or advisor.

Faculty Mentor Award

Ashland University recognizes faculty whose academic leadership with regard to students extends beyond the classroom. Each academic year mentors, nominated by an Ashland student, are presented an engraved silver plate at an event held in John C. Myers Convocation Center. Two faculty members from the Department of Inclusive Services and Exceptional Learners have been the recipients of the Academic Mentor Award.

Dr. Carla Abreu-Ellis, Associate Professor of Education was the recipient of this award in 2012 - 2013 academic year.

Dr. James Chapple, Assistant Professor of Education was the recipient of this award in 2009 - 2010 academic year.
