Course Description:

Fundamentals of Effective Problem-solving begins with an explanation of adult learning styles and their impacts upon adult learning.  Classroom instructional strategies to address these different learning styles are presented.  These strategies will be utilized throughout this course to:

1.  address the adult learning styles of the online course participants, and
2.  demonstrate the application of these strategies with incarcerated learners.

To develop a working understanding of effective problem-solving, the steps of The Problem-solving Method will be presented through interactive exercises.  These exercises will allow you to engage in specific skills applicable for use within correctional facility classrooms.  The final three lessons of this course offer correctional facility educators a framework for the development and utilization of a student-generated workbook in problem-solving.
