DYSLEXIA: 1 IN 5

Up to 20% of our population has a diagnosed or undiagnosed language processing disorder known as dyslexia. That means it is possible that 1 in 5 children in each classroom may have a learning disability. Participants in this class will experience an in-person dyslexia simulation workshop based on the research of the Dyslexia Training Institute. Interactive workshop is designed to create awareness and empathy for those who may experience dyslexia. The workshop includes reading comprehension, writing, spelling, round robin reading, and auditory processing simulations. Additional independent assignments, virtual meetings, and a book study will be required. At the end of the course, participants will be able to define dyslexia, differentiate between dyslexia myths and facts, discuss socio-emotional issues, and be equipped to create awareness in their classroom or district.
