Biography
  • Joined Ashland University faculty in 2008 and teaches graduate courses in educational leadership areas such as organizational management, instructional leadership, policy development, human behavior, resource management, and community relations
  • Her past experience includes 28 years as a teacher, central office administrator, building principal and college professor
  • One of the foremost experts in School Safety and Security in the country and serves as Director of Programs for the Educator’s School Safety Network, a national non-profit organization that specializes in education-based training and resources for violence prevention and crisis response in schools
  • Certified Department of Homeland Security Instructor and course developer, authoring courses such as Crisis Management for School-Based Incidents for Key Decision Makers
  • Has conducted extensive research in the area of school safety and crisis planning and has developed lockdown enhancement, threat assessment, and parent reunification courses for school administrators, school staff members, and law enforcement officials
  • Keeping Students Safe Every Day, published by ASCD, along with other articles on school safety featured in national publications
  • Presented at regional and national education and law enforcement conferences on school safety issues
