Course Description:

Participants will explore the base ten structure of the number system, consider how that structure is exploited in computational procedures, and examine how concepts of whole numbers differ when working with decimals. 

While the participants are learning how children confront these mathematical issues, they are also exploring the mathematics for themselves. Participants will read cases about elementary mathematics in classroom setting, view videos, explore mathematical concepts, analyze lessons and student work, and read current research applicable to these issues.
