SMALL GROUP READING GR 2-12

Topic: Reading/Literacy
Instructor: Julie Wright
Method: Online (OWRK)
Sponsor: AU Columbus Center
Center Offered: CPD

Course Description:

Readers in grades 2-12 don't always need to be guided (through guided reading structures) as much as they need to be engaged.  In this course, we will investigate tools, classroom examples, and actionable steps essential for starting, sustaining, and mastering the management of small groups.  In doing so, we will uncover structures that foster increasing reading volume, choice, and access to texts unique to students individual interests, passions, habits, and needs. This course will jump start your thinking about five teacher moves that work together to support students' reading independence through small group learning-kidwatching, pivoting, assessing, curating, and planning- including examples to guide you and your students toward success.

This is a self-paced course. You are able to enroll in the course any time between April 2, 2019 and August 20, 2019.
